Our Purpose

Our Mission

To proclaim the risen Christ in rural Zambia and beyond.

Rural Outreach Ministries (ROM) was founded by Evangelist Ken Banda and established on 6th April 1995, as a response to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), standing firmly on the promises of Mark 16:16-20 and Psalm 2:8.

Since its inception, ROM has been committed to evangelism and outreach, focusing on sharing the life-transforming message of Christ Jesus with people in Zambia’s rural communities and beyond.

Our Direction

Our Vision

To see rural Zambia saved through spiritual transformation and holistic development.

Since 1995

Our Story

The rural people are My people also, and I died for them too.

ROM was established in 1995 following a defining spiritual encounter experienced by the Founder and President. For over 31 years, ROM has focused on evangelistic outreach in rural and underserved communities, discipleship and church planting, and holistic transformation through social and economic interventions.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

01

Faith and Word-Centered

Christ is central to all we do. We rely on God’s guidance and uphold the integrity of God’s word through adherence to biblical standards in all character and conduct.

02

Integrity

We are committed to the highest levels of accountability and stewardship. We treat every resource, financial, human, or natural, as a sacred trust from our donors and the communities we serve.

03

Compassion

We serve with dignity and love, believing every individual deserves to be treated with Christ-like empathy and respect regardless of socio-economic status.

04

Excellence

We maintain high standards in ministry delivery, striving for a standard that reflects the glory of God in every chapel built, every broadcast made, and every life served.

05

Empowerment

We focus on building self-reliance, equipping rural residents with the spiritual and economic tools to transform their own lives.

06

Partnership

We believe in collaboration for greater impact, actively seeking to work with traditional leadership, Government bodies, and corporate partners.

Our Corporate Governance

The oversight of ROM is provided by a prayerfully constituted Board from across denominations. These are men and women drawn from diverse professional backgrounds with a heart to see rural Zambia saved.

Teamwork

The Vision and Mission of ROM is led and accomplished through three active ministry teams called "armies". These "armies" are made up of people who commit their time and resources to the work of the Ministry. The "armies" under ROM are:

The Going Army

These are volunteer frontline missionaries who, from time to time and against all odds, take the gospel of salvation to rural Zambia and beyond.

The Praying Army

This comprises volunteer intercessors from across denominational lines who support the Ministry's evangelistic and outreach programmes in rural Zambia and beyond.

The Sending Army

These are people from across denominational lines that are friends of the Ministry and committed to supporting the Ministry's outreach and evangelistic programmes.

Our Objectives

01

To hold mass evangelistic crusades and village outreach programmes in rural Zambia.

02

To build and sustain evangelistic teams in all the ten provinces of Zambia, that will effectively service their respective villages.

03

To partner with and support rural churches in their mandate to reach the lost.

04

To encourage sustainable growth of the local church through leadership training.

05

To build capacity in local pastors in their service to God and ultimately become good and faithful stewards.

Our Founder

Rev. Dr. Kenneth J. Banda

Rev. Dr. Kenneth J. Banda

Founder and President

Evangelist and Philanthropist based in Lusaka, Zambia, called to preach in rural communities. He founded Rural Outreach Ministries in 1995 to proclaim the risen Christ in rural Zambia through open-air crusades, door-to-door evangelism, revival meetings, and Bush Bible Schools. He is also Founder and President of Harvest University.

As I reflect on the journey of Rural Outreach Ministries, I am reminded of the early days when our mission was fuelled by a simple yet profound command: to go where others would not and to reach those whom society had forgotten. We are not just planting churches; we are building transformation hubs.
